DDA Compliance

The DDA stipulates that from 1 st October 2004 a disabled person cannot be restricted from gaining access to a site to obtain goods or services. This includes people who use wheelchairs, blind and partially sighted people deaf people, people with arthritis, people with long-term illnesses and people with learning disabilities. The act also covers people with severe disfigurements and, in certain circumstances people who have had a disability in the past. This obviously has an impact on the installation of new and existing Access Control Systems.

AAC are dedicated to automated access systems and provide one stop solutions to the DDA regulations.

From October 2004 service providers and landlords have to consider making reasonable adjustments to the physical features of their premises to overcome physical barriers to access.

•  For wheelchair users- automated pedestrian doors- existing or new doors [internal or external], swing or sliding.

•  For blind or partially sighted users- large illuminated pushbuttons, Braille coded pushbuttons for audio or video entryphones

•  Deaf or hard of hearing users- hearing aid compatible entryphones

Push Button

•  General resident or employee facilities- proximity readers [hands free technology] and tags- allow controlled access to known staff without the need to use a PIN number or card

•  System upgrades and service contracts

AAC are specialist installers of automated gates, barriers and doors. DDA systems utilise the extensive range of swing, sliding and access controls.
